Site Visit with AIIB Delegates in Kegalle & Kurunegala Districts

Some delegates from Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the source of funding for the Reduction of Vulnerability by Mitigation Measures Project recently visited Sri Lanka, on 24th of January 2023 for their Constituency Meeting which was held in Hilton Hotel, Colombo. The next day, on the 25th, the delegates including the Vice President of AIIB, Dr. Ludgar Schuknecht, 3 constituency members from Indonesia and Laos, officials from the Department of Management Services of the Ministry of Finance, and officials from PMU and NBRO later took part in a joint field visit to some Project sites under RLVMMP in Kegalle District including Kegalle Bypass Road (Site No. 011 – Package 4C), Kegalle Court Complex (Site No. 020 – Package 4A) and Polgahawela Bus stand (Site No. 007 – Package 4A) in Kurunegala District.

Reduction of Landslide Vulnerability by Mitigation Measures Project (RLVMMP) is an effort to reduce the annual loss of life, property and infrastructure damage due to landslide risk in Sri Lanka. With the financial assistance of AIIB, NBRO the Implementing Agency under the Ministry of Defence has contributed to a safer built environment for Sri Lanka through the project.
