RLVMMP officials together with officials from AIIB conducted a joint field visit on 07th July 2022 in Pitabeddara, Kotapola, Deniyaya in Matara District.
Representing the RLVMMP PMU, Mr. R M S Bandara, Project Director, Mr. Laksiri Indrathilake, Senior Geologist, Mr. Michael Tessitore, AIIB Consultant, Officials from the construction supervision consultancy team and representatives of the contractor, M/s Sanguine Engineering were joined to this Field Visit.
It is aimed to review the progress of the ongoing construction works of Package 03 and to identify the key issues which are causing the delay in the construction works.
The contractor and the consultant were interviewed during the site visit and the following observations were made as the result of these discussions;
- The cumulative physical progress of the package is 85.26% whereas the target is to be complete 100%.
- The main reason for the delay is the scarcity of fuel due to the present crisis in Sri Lanka.
- The contractor agreed to complete the construction works at the end of August 2022 subject to the availability of fuel requirement (minimum 2000 Lts. of Auto Diesel).
